[wp-testers] WP 2.6 running slow

Peter From peter.from at conceditor.se

I too feel that WP 2.6 is pretty much slower than for instance the 2.5.1
version.
It´s especially painful when working with posts. I experience slow save
times
and changing from writing a post to editing one is equally painful.
Sometimes
it takes five to ten seconds to complete a task that previously happened in
a blink of an eye.

Overall I experience that the administration runs slower. Much slower.

Virtual Multiblog might work for you:

Though for what you describe, you might be better with the categories
idea.

Good luck.

This just happened in the past. Jamie Talbot - the main author of
Gengo multilanguage plugin - asked and obtained some additional hooks,
and also one request of mine was converted into a new hook.

If the request for core changes makes sense, usually you don't have to
apply any pressure, it just happens. This is one of the many reason I
love WordPress: committers does listen to the community.

After all, I feel it's quite easy to write plugins. Troubles are in
maintenance :-)

Hi all,

Has anyone had a problem with the 2.6 Admin running slower at times than
previous versions with or without gears enabled. Perhaps slower isn't
the term I'm looking for here but more like hesitating for several
seconds before switching to another page like from "Plugins" to
"Comments" for example. Once you're in a page like "Comments", things
seem to move right along until your attempt to switch to another section
of the Admin. Sometimes it's quick enough and sometimes it "hesitates"
for several seconds.

No error callouts, error logs are clean and I know it's not the server,
upgrade procedure (strictly "by the book" manual upgrading) or plugin
related (went the standard rounds with that) and doesn't seem to affect
the actual site itself, just the Admin. I can't seem to find any reason
for it and it only appeared to begin with the 2.6 release, not beta's.
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed the same thing.

Actually ... yes, I do have experienced problems with the Admin running
terribly slow on my broadband connection and I don't have any error logs
and it isn't plugin related. I haven't experienced this with the previous
2.5.1 release.

It takes 30 secs just to move from "Design" to "Manage" :(

Never had this issue, although if the admin slows down, gears or not, all
the sites I visit slows down, so I blame my Internet connection. But that's
just me.

Happy Hunting! :)

Hey Will,

In my case it's a separate issue from my broad band connection.
Frustrating to say the least since there's nothing solid error-wise to
bite a hold of. Perhaps I need a bigger gun? :D
