Actually, just for the record, I belong to a fairly large networking
list of designers. I know of three other designers who have run into
this issue (one of them with their own site) - I myself have done 4
sites for clients that have had the same issue with 2.5 (and these are
fresh installations). There's also a few threads on the forums about
this problem. It's actually a reported bug that there isn't a
solution for yet. So at least you know you're not alone.

Duh, $data was being immediately returned instead of falling through
to the is_serialized case. I read that last if as an elseif.
Fixed. 2.6.1 will restore the old behavior. To work with all
versions, plugins should pass their data unserialized. It just ends
up being serialized again anyway.

Hi Gang,
I did a blog posting, and sent a link to my own Blog over on Wordpress.com
and, I didn't get a e-mail letting me know that the Wordpress.com Blog got
the ping.
I have the box checked that says, "Yes send an outgoing ping".
Just a dog whistle alert on it.
