[wp-testers] Permalinks working... not

This week at www.wordpress-it.it and personally by email we got 3
different people on different hosting service (any is one we had seen
before) with apparently the same problem.

They set up permalink, update them, no error messages, in some case
the .htaccess is not written, in other is, but the result is that
permalink doesn't work at all, giving errors. The server has
mod_rewrite active, the htaccess is written correctly when is written.

All seem ok as usual but permalink different than standard one doens't
work.

All use wp 2.3.2 and some are un a 64bit server (other doesn't know)
where we have already solved them the localization bug with these
server.

Any idea or suggestions? Thanks in advance
