[wp-testers] Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by reference in /var/www/itss/wp-admin/widgets.php on line 21

It is worse.. when trying to upload a document through the administrative
interface I get the following error:

"*Fatal error*: Only variables can be passed by reference in *
/var/www/sstlr/wp-includes/post.php* on line *2411*."

Any help/insight would be appreciated.
