[wp-testers] WP-to-WP export/import issues remain [was: unable to import

Given all the problems, yes, it would have been simpler to do, it seems.
But this is one a site, not a test.  The old database is now gone, so that
option is wasted.

Oh, I did forget to mention: when I do the import -- which doesn't import to
the MySQL database -- as others have mentioned, it does show up in the
"uploads" -- it just doesn't do what WordPress should do with it.
