For posts that will get horrible pretty-links, I put in a new post slog.
MORE people should do this rather than having an URL that is so long it
can't be posted anywhere without wordwrapping. As a result of that, if the
post slug is set, it should never be changed.
This is how the codex explains it should be used:
<snip>
The Post Slug is the title of your article post in the link, if you are
using Pretty Permalinks. The blogging tool software may simplify or truncate
your title into a more appropriate form for using as a link. A title such as
"I'll Make A Wish" might be truncated to "ill-make-a-wish". In WordPress,
you can change the Post Slug to something else, like "make-a-wish", which
sounds better than a wish made when sick.
</snip>
So, my question is, should a post published draft even have a slug? I don't
think it should. That would solve the problem. Drafts perhaps should have
their own permalink format such as DRAFT135 for post 135 published as a
draft.
Thoughts?
