That's my point - it is being suggested that Wordpress should have
either categories or tags - not both. I'm suggesting a scenario where
tags and categories should exist together.

The example I gave somewhere in this string of emails is as follows:
Category: Movie Reviews (or: Reviews -> Movies)
Blog entry: Harry Potter
Tags: harry potter, movies, films, fantasy, wizards, magic

I think that's the perfect example of how both work together.
