I'm sorry, I was getting my mailing lists mixed up. The Codex mailing list
just had a big conversation about this and the frustration offering support
for users that insist on using the 1.6. My apologies.

Isn't the point of wp-testers to discuss unreleased builds? Plus the
original poster was even offering a fix for the problem so that wasn't
exactly a nice response. :)

It seems there are a few teething problems with Wordpress becoming a
popular open source project with this whole 1.6 business so hopefully
it just takes time for things to settle down.
