See, I'm not the only one!

Although I would rather leave the existing hook alone (for backwards-ish 
compatibility) and add a new one.

And before you go on about using DOM to put stuff in there, try it. 
It's not impossible, but made so much less annoying simply by adding one 
line to the core.
