Appears to, with a caveat.

I'm running MySQL 5.0.16 and PHP 5.1.1 and the latest nightly is working
fine.

HOWEVER, I have heard reports that turning on the 'new' 'strict mode' of
SQL compliance in MySQL breaks things, though I haven't personally
tested it.
