Today was committed the first patch, which makes use of gettext
contexts and extracted comments:
http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/9112

You should see several strings in different contexts and having
extracted comments. In different translation software these show
differently. For example in poEdit the context isn't shown anywhere
and the comment is shown next to the string (make sure View -> Show
automatic comments window is checked).

Please, test the current trunk POT with your translation software to
make sure everything works as expected.

First, have a look at our translation docs at the Codex:

Then tell me your WordPress.org forums username in order to get commit
access to the repository.

Then, when your translation is done, you can think of getting a local
site (e.g. ka.wordpress.org or ge.wordpress.org):

This way you will have an automatic packager for your local versions,
nice download page and automatic updates in Georgian.

There used to be at least one other French translatio on Launchpaf,
namely fr_be, but it seems to have died since WP 1.5.

Hello, introduce my self, my name is hendra who recently work as a web developer for www.baliorange.net. Im living in Indonesia that have a lots of cultures and languages as well. Bahasa Indonesia is a national language that connecting all people in Indonesia. Under the national language, there are a lot of traditional language, such of Bahasa Jawa (Javanese), Bahasa Sunda (Sundanese), etc.

The population of Javanese is the biggest part in Indonesia. Bahasa Jawa is almost known by people of Indonesia. Since im running a blog which using Bahasa Jawa at www.bakulweb.com, i do willing to translate your wordpress language to be in Bahasa Jawa.

I do have team and friends who always around me to help. What should i do to make it available on wordpress download section.

I only joined this list today so apologies if this question has already been asked here.

I checked the lists of active and forming translation teams and couldn't find one tackling British / International English. There are many spelling differences between American English and the English used in Britain, Australia and many other countries.

Is anyone here already working or planning to work together on a British / International English translation? If so, I'd like to join you. If not, I'd like to get a team up-and-running but would appreciate guidance from people who're already doing translations.

I'm English, living in Australia.

G'day everyone

I've had a query from someone who'd like to help translate BBpress and 
WordPress MU using the Locamotion Pootle server.  In order to use 
Pootle, the source text needs to be available in POT format.  Can anyone 
give me more information about BBpress and WPMU's localisation?

I did a search of the BBpress and WPMU pages and forums, but I was 
unable to find specific information about localising these apps.

Specifically, what I want to know, is:

* Are there specific pages with information for translators for these 
two projects, and if so, what are the URLs?
* Are their POT files available in some SVN location somewhere?
* Where can I find a list of current translators and/or teams of 
translators, and/or a list of translation progress by language, for 
these two projects?

We still don't have a separate repository for MU. It uses the wp.org
one in mu/ subfolder.

Could you use a smaller screenshot? See how big is it in other locale
sites like: http://ca.wordpress.org/

Also, could you commit PO files in the repository, too? I saw that in
trunk/messages/ there is only the MO file.

Let me answer my own question:

% of words from WP in WPMU: 80% (13 603 words)
This means that if WP is fully translated, MU requires only 2891 further 
words to be translated.

% of words from WPMU in WP: 85% (13 622 words)
This means that if WPMU is fully translated, WP requires only 1978 
further words to be translated.

% of words from WP in BBp: 5% (345 words)
This means that if WP is fully translated, BBp requires a 5454 further 
words to be translated.

% of words from BBp in WP: 2% (348 words)
This means that if BBp is fully translated, WP requires a 15222 further 
words to be translated.

% of words from WPMU in BBp: 5% (342 words)
This means that if WP is fully translated, BBp requires a 5454 further 
words to be translated.

% of words from BBp in WPMU: 5% (344 words)
This means that if BBp is fully translated, WPMU requires a 16187 
further words to be translated.

Essentially this means that BBp is a completely separate project and 
that WPMU is best translated in conjuction with WP itself.

Between MU and WordPress -- really a lot. Between bbPress and
WordPress -- not so much, but still probably 15-20%.

Hi guys,

I need some help to update my pt_BR.po trunk file to the latest 
wordpress.pot trunk file. I'm trying to do that with poedit but it does'nt 
work, it returns an error message. I saved the log file, if someone could 
help me with that please, I'll send it with the files in need to be 
debugged.

If somebody could do that as soon as possible, I'd apreciate, since we want 
to be ready for the 2.8 release.

I guess it's just a separator between two strings which you can change 
if the standard format doesn't fit your language too well.

Hi,

I'm having problem with 'Add new' for Post/Page/Plugins... in wp-admin, 
they are translated, but when the mo file is used, they are not replaced :(

hello,

I was planning to work on translating/localizing wordpress into swahili, 
is there any ongoing work at the moment that I can join or continue if 
its abondoned or something... :-)
I want to gain some skills into localization stuffs and at the same time 
i think wordpress its a great blog software that lots of swahili can 
make use of it.
I have been googling but I can spot any ongoing work into this.
