I could run a similar batch as before, building all locales, but I'm not
sure if those should just be blindly published.  They should probably go
through some QA first.

But if it helps, I'd be glad to publish the packages for review.

Weeks ago there was a thread talking about a repositiry for all
available translation gloally generated taking a standard distro and
adding files available under a locale directory on SVN and creating
the .zip file. Then develloper were busy to close the 1.5.1 release.

I think it's now time to decide and defiine how the single locale
version will be made available to public, for my locale team (it_IT)
we have already distributed a beta version in previous week and today
or tomorrow we are going to make the final 1.5.1 in ital?ian available
trhrough our WordPress Italy Project site (blog/wiki/forum) so it's
not a problem for us but i think that an official repository with link
for the locales support in naive language would be a good thing for
all translator that doens't have or plan a full site devoted to theyr
1.5.1 locale. Aside having a central repository with link to locale
(if exists) would help people to know about resource available in thyr
naive languages.

I am going to Have a site devoted to WP and its Support form in Persian ...
But As u said Some Repository for all available Translation is a good idea .
Now i can just release .mo file + Modified wp-admin.css on my Blog . and 
i am looking for some place to Release Full Pakage there ;)

For now, I updated the fr_FR portion of
http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Localization (the most
centralized place for this, thus far), with links to the full version,
the mo file, and the default theme files. Along with this, a link to
the translation blog, and to the instruction page.

Problem is, I don't think this can scale in a clean way. Subpages in
the wiki for each locale ?

Most of us upload it on our personnal webspace.
As for making it available/known to the public, you should first and
foremost make a link to the files (or better, a localized instruction
page ?) on the Codex, right here :

I've been thinking about doing the same. But as long as we don't use local
subpages, I think that the better solution is to have all the links in
your own page. That is, you could easily just link to your own page (you
could either have a sticky on http://xavier.borderie.net/wp-fr/ or simply
add the links on the installation instructions
page(http://xavier.borderie.net/wp-fr/installation-de-wordpress-en-francais/)
and link to that instead).

It will soon get rather messy if we are all to have 5+ links on
http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Localization - even though it
logically is the best solution right now.

There shouldn't be a problem with 1.5.1.  pubDate should conform to
RFC822.  The year and month should not be translated.

In the RSS feed WP use the time setting used for display time in posts
etc. so the time could look like (for italy):

Sab, 07 Set 2002 09:42:31 GMT

But RSS feeds specifications says that all date-times in RSS conform
to the Date and Time Specification of RFC 822, with the exception that
the year may be expressed with two characters or four characters. An
date can be all numerical or in english so the time before woudl be:

Sat, 07 Sep 2002 09:42:31 GMT or 2002-09-07T09:42:31+0000

Practicalli in feed it's better do not do any localization routine but
use always english time or numeric time

Time ago i read here that if a theme is "gettexted" and a .mo file
named the same of the languag specified in the config.php file is
present the theme will show up using the .mo file translations.

Now I have a user that made a theme and localized it generated the
it_IT.mo file put it in the theme directory but the them show up still
in english.

What's wrong with it ? Thanks

It's ok for 1.5.1.1 chamges in 1.5.1.1 are in the code not in any text
strings

I'm happy and proud to announce the availability of a new theme,
realesed in 4 colour variation, that is fully localizable.

I think it's one of the firsts if not the first one after the Default
theme that offer this opportunity.

The theme is in english and comes with the it_IT.po and it_IT.mo,
translators can use the it_IT.mo as a base for a new translation, I
hope some of the localizing group will catch the chance to have new
fres themes available in they own language.

Not to mention complete!

Based on todays pot-file, I bring you a new, improved Norwegian Bokm?l
translation. I think all of you will agree this one is much better
than the ones currently advertised in the forum and codex.

Also, I noticed a little regression when checking the latest
wp-register.php, line 168:

<p>A password will be emailed to you.</p>

I reckon that should be added to the pot ;-)

You  have duplicate translation entries--such as defining the 
translation of "Login" twice.

Open the .po in your text editor, go to the line number where poEdit 
says the first definition is. It'll be a line starting with "msgstr". 
It'll be paired with a line before it called "msgid".

Then take out the second place you find a msgid/msgstr pair with the 
same msgid value (including comments right before, which start with 
"#"). The line to find at will be listed in poEdit as the number with 
"duplicate message definition".

Which template did you start with?

Hi there,

I am working on improving the Polish translation of WordPress. There are 
several issues I can't resolve on my own. I am not a skilled programmer, I 
can modify a PHP code when it's not too complicated and I can read it as long 
as it does not contain many regexp ;-)

1. "th" in the date. It is not necessary, how do I get rid of it?

2. In Polish grammar it is incorrect to leave single letters ('i' meaning 
'and', 'o' meaning 'about' and so on) at the end of the line. There are not 
many of them (a, i, o, u, w, z - that's it plus uppercase). A single regex 
replacing the string "space/one of the letters/space" with "space/one of the 
letters/&nbsp;" would solve the issue. But I can't write it on my own... Help 
would be appreciated.

3. Polish opening quotes are different from US ones. I solved this by 
replacing every occurence of the opening quote's code (&#8220 if I remember 
correctly) with Polish opening quote code. I know it's an ugly hack, but 
works for me (I don't need US opening quote at all). Is there a better way to 
handle this?

I'd like Polish version of WordPress to not only have the vocabulary, but to 
take advantage of all the possibilities of English version. As soon as I 
finish it, I will post it to Matt to distribute it.

You could probably take the Finnish Quotes plugin and possibly use it
as is, or easily modify it to become Polish Quotes.

In Finnish, both the opening and closing quote is the same, and it is
the "closing quote" used in English.

The developper wrote me yesterday saying the themes now come with a
readme and a .pot in english, before the .pot file was available for
download as  a standalone file.
