Agreed but …

1, There's many plugins that remove the version number
2, There's a small script to add to your theme functions file that removes it
3, You can go to sites like http://whatwpthemeisthat.com to find out specific info
4, As a developer you can manually remove/ not add in the first place the tag from your theme
5, And if a hacker or whoever really wants to break into your site, they will, no matter what version WP or even if you're using WP.

The easiest solution is to simply not build the tag into your themes header.
Plus, of course, there are many more security processes that should be carried out WP or not.
