WordPress is a very capable medium for e-commerce; more so than ever,
in fact. Three of the most popular e-commerce plugins currently are:

 * JigoShop - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/jigoshop/
 * WooCommerce - http://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce/
 * WP e-Commerce - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-e-commerce/

They're all fully-featured, actively developed, and popular. You
should take a look at each and see which ones fit your clients' needs.
