[wp-hackers] Image Management Enhancements in 3.3?

Thanks.  

I used NextGen a while back (had to hack it because of an unworkable database schema) but just I've reviewed it again for the image functionality (I should have mentioned that in advance) but it's strongly coupled to the NextGen end-user use-cases, and has much more complexity than I want to deal with, unfortunately.  I really need a code-level API that has no forced integration with any particular UI.

But I do appreciate the suggestion.
