[wp-hackers] Diaspora protocol implementation for BuddyPress

Hi,
I have been looking at Diaspora development in the past 2 months and I feel
like it will be relatively simple to develop something like that on
BuddyPress/WordPress.
Apart from the distributed social network benefit, it can help in
maintaining larger WordPress sites having multiple servers, one in every
region closer to their customers/users.
Is there any user group already attempting this?
