[wp-hackers] What is the status of adding a new (custom) post status?

Hi,

I found this ticket http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/12706, but the 
status of the patch included is unclear to me. Is it already added to 
the core? If not, what's preventing it from becoming part of the core 
and what can I do to ensure it becomes part of the core?
