I'd agree. Specifically because your Apache configuration would be a bit 
weird.
Unless you want to setup a subdomain vhost for every subdomain you add, 
you'd end up having a wildcard subdomain vhost AND have two specific 
vhosts sending those existing sub-domains to different directories. I 
think that's quite possible but it would be off the beaten trail.

Your main decision about going MS or not will likely be how you want to 
control your users as all of your users will be stored in the same user 
pool.  So having a CodeNinja on site 1 means that name is reserved under 
all of the sites.  So a /different/ person can't have an account named 
CodeNinja on Site 2.  If that is fine with you, then you're probably 
fine using multisite for all of the sites.
