If you want to use StackOverflow, then by all means, use it. You don't
need anybody's approval.

I will be working full-time to revamp WordPress.org in the very near
future (tomorrow is my last day of non-WP-work). So we'll do what we
think is right there. I don't think a recreation of SO will be in the
works, because I fail to see the value inherent to that type of
system. It strikes me mostly as a way to create a FAQ with a rating
system, not as a good way to facilitate communication among users. A
better approach to forums, with special services geared towards plugin
and theme authors (who are the most likely to answer technical
questions relating to their areas of expertise) is a better way to go,
IMO.

I will admit that it doesn't help me that all the SO oriented sites
appear to have been developed by colorblind people. I get eyestrain
trying to read anything on StackOverflow. Looking at ServerFault
actually causes me physical pain.

In the meantime, use whatever system you want to use. If you find SO
and the like useful, then use it. I don't find it useful, so I will
not be using it.

Does any more really need to be said on this topic? If anybody wants
to chat with me about it, my inbox is always open.
