IMHO, "ruin the surprise" and professional-level software development are oxymoronic and should never be used in the same paragraph.

The egg is silly, stupid, and should never have been approved by the committers.

obfuscated in order to make the easter egg a little harder for people
to notice when it was added to WordPress. This was done so it didn't
ruin the surprise.
