I have recently found the same issue: numberposts or showposts both work where posts_per_page does not. Codex describes get_posts as defaulting to 5 posts returned, which is not intuitive. With no limit defined, expected result was that get_posts would return all posts matching the specified criteria. Regards, Mikel
