[wp-hackers] Advertising on plugin pages

I would guess that you'll get a lot of push-back regardless of how  
reasonable a goal that you have in mind.

The perception will be that you added advertising to a page on "my"  
site. (Never mind the presumed security risk of you choosing to insert  
third-party code when I am logged in.) I may very well trust (as in  
trust but verify) your code, but now I have to trust your judgement in  
who you choose to distribute and who they choose to distribute, etc.
