Of course, but then a lot of things aren't necessary for all sites.  I 
mean, the entire remote posting API is probably unused by a large 
percentage of users, yet gets no end of dev time devoted to it, probably 
because an influential group of people make use of it.

Heck, you'll never please everybody.
