[wp-hackers] Canonical integration into core

I know that Joost has already whipped up a plugin  
(http://yoast.com/canonical-url-links/) to account for the new Canonical  
search engine hinting HEAD tag (see here for details:  
http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2009/02/specify-your-canonical.html)  
but I honestly think this might be a big enough deal to integrate into  
WordPress' core.

Thoughts? Reactions? 2x4's upside my head?
