Since you have just one article per day, something like the following
should work:

In .htaccess:
RedirectMatch (articles)/(\d{4})(\d{2})(\d{2})\.html$
http://localhost/$1/index.php/$2/$3/$4?singleredirect=1

In a plugin:
add_action('template_redirect', 'redirect_old');
function redirect_old() {
        if ( is_day() && ! empty( $_GET['singleredirect'] ) && have_posts() ) {
                the_post();
                wp_redirect(get_permalink(), 301);
                exit;
        }
}
