End-users of free plugins have a choice to use the plugin or not. Or they
could develop their own or find someone willing to do so for them.

End-users of WordPress are not necessarily users of free, mass-distribution
plugins. By giving developers choice WordPress is giving everyone the
ability to extend the code in the way that best suits them. There is no such
thing as the perfect library, whether its JavaScript or whatever, that meets
all needs. As long as WP remains extensible individual needs can be met -
locking developers and/or users into specific libraries just removes choice.
