[wp-hackers] Translation problems after automatic plugin upgrade

This is only a wild guess, but is it possible that the plugin upgrade 
code is incorrectly transferring the MO files using ASCII instead of 
binary mode (they are binary files, unlike PO and POT files, which are 
plain text)?
