Varuna,

I like the look/sound of your proposal, and a more powerful search
system is definitely something WordPress needs.

You might also consider adding a more general "taxonomy:" operator to
your list of supported special operators, which could handle both the
category: and tag: ones (since internally, they are both implemented
as different taxonomies). maybe even something like tax.NAME: or
something (just thinking out loud here) so that you could specify that
it's a taxonomy, and limit it to a specific one. Either that or any
operator used that doesn't match your default title/content/etc ones
is assumed to be a taxonomy name?

through the GSoC website!
