Hm, Sounds like a great idea!
Except for the requirement for users to enter FTP details on some setups,  
which would make it a bit uglier..

Hm.. Maybe a Thickbox page inside Thickbox might work, With a simple  
progress bar like:

The Atompub importer uses something similar, And it looks pretty good,  
Would really fit in with the plugin stuff too.
