[wp-hackers] Contributing Patches to WordPress

Hi,
I'd like to start contributing to WordPress development, but the Wiki
page is a little confusing. I have a checkout of the latest SVN on my
computer. So when I want to change something, I go and edit the file.
How do I contribute my change to the SVN from here? I know I need to
patch the file, but no information is given on what patch format, how to
post a patch, etc.
