Thanks. Once I set up the tables manually, that did seem to complete the 
upgrade.

I'm still having possible related problems involving comments as shown 
in this image:

There seem to be comments awaiting moderation, but I can't see them. In 
fact, I can't see any comments in the wp-admin panel at all except for 
what Akismet has caught. That is

http://www.elharo.com/blog/wp-admin/edit-comments.php

always shows "No results found". I can see comments on individual post 
pages though. I have to do some more digging on that problem.
