Flash, when used correctly, is a very nice solution, especially in terms of
cross-browser-ness. So I'd have to disagree with you. And it is possible to
make it degrade gracefully.

And, as Daniel says, a lot of users *do* have Flash installed -- it's pretty
commonplace these days.
