All this talk about performance that keeps coming and going has once
again got me to consider running WordPress as a compiled PHP application.

The last time I tried (Phalanger 2.0, IIS 6, Windows 2003) WordPress
wasn't fully compatible with the function set supported by Phalanger
(which is close to 99%)

If I were to patch WP in a way that doesn't break anything but allows it
to run as a compiled PHP application, would it be possible for these
patches to be added to the core?

I won't bother hacking it up if I have to reapply the patches every time
I svn up (3 or 4 times a day ;)

Just wondering... From the last time I looked at it, only a couple of
functions here and there gave it some trouble.

Thanks! :)
