[wp-hackers] [PATCH] use system-wide gettext() when available

The attached patch uses php-gettext module when available, registering 
to the domain "wordpress";
you also have to install the .mo file in your system locales directory, 
in my case

/usr/share/locale/it/LC_MESSAGES/wordpress.mo

Tested on RH-ES4-64 bit, where this patch is the only way to have 
translation working,
as far as I know.
