I'm curious about this too. The only thing I could find that might 
identify "type" is the post_status column. Because the sql defines it as 
an enum, you can't set it to anything other than 'publish', 'draft', 
'private', 'static', or 'object'. Is there another way of identifying  a 
specially typed post?
