Keyword the title so that anyone having the problem and who is searching for an answer will zone in on it, and marking it resolved, IMHO, means there is a solution found within the thread. Just my two cents.

Subject: [wp-forums] Mark as Resolved or Not a Support Question?

I created a thread just to post a solution to a common problem.

I don't know whether to mark it as 'resolved' or 'not a support question' because I don't want to disadvantage it from people who are searching for only resolved threads.
