Not anymore. :)

I anticipated this when I did the codex account stuff, and if you're
an admin on the codex, you'll find a "Merge and delete users" option
on the Special Pages section. That will let you merge one user's
activities into another and then delete the first user, all in one
fluid motion. There is also a "Rename user" option, but that should be
avoided except for special cases.
