Oh yeah, definitely. If done (and I'm not positive as yet that we
should) we may need to reach beyond the mods and regular group of
helpers in the forums.

Yep.

This should only be provided to personal bloggers. Any *commercial*
operation should not be considered (unless they are willing to pay,
but that goes beyond the scope of your suggestion).

Make it a "students and non-profits" kind of deal.

A 101-type document would need to be written beforehand providing
basics on file permissions, ftp-ing, installing plugins and themes,
general WordPress use/options. This is provided to them at the time
of installation agreement.

They must agree to read the doc!

* There are issues (big ones) of accountability (legal and otherwise)
that need to be hashed out first.

* An agreement between parties (installer and installee) is probably
needed here not only to spell out what they get (and what they don't),
but to point out that liability ends with the installation.

* This could lead to an avalanche of requests.
