Chip, that's awesome stuff, and a very valuable reference for beginners.
With that in mind, I think it would be very beneficial to provide some
little CSS examples to illustrate common use cases, for instance:

- how to highlight the menu item of the current page that you're on
- how to highlight the parent of the current menu item, when in a pull-down
(hierarchical) context
- how to colour menu items differently depending on post type
