I have thought long about how the future of GlotPress would look like. I
totally get all the reasons said here and where people are coming from and
I have read them all and took them in consideration. In the end I’m
 closing this ticket.

The reason why is that I don’t think it make things better as people going
to assume. Yes, GlotPress has flaws that some WordPress plugins already
fixed. This to me means that it should be addressed directly in GlotPress.
It should work out of the box without any plugins needed. And the ideal
situation would be that plugins are for specific demands or to improve
speed in a way that would be to complex in GlotPress itself.

Personally I don't mind working on user management, frontend registration
and easier/better installation. Installation has improved and if people
need more improvements to make it easier to contribute back then I have no
problem at all to fix that. In the end I do want the easy to install which
to me and the regular user isn't a requirement to install WordPress first
 and search for the plugin.

What I do propose is to give someone access to build a site on
GlotPress.org that described what it is and shows a download button for
the nightly build. And when we have our first stable version, show that
 (instead).
