 can't translate it correctly and they need to create their own text
 (shorten it by removing unimportant things).

 @markoheijnen in that exact use case (release notes), we can't publish a
 text longer than 500 chars, so we usually truncate the text or ask the
 translator to truncate it. In that case truncating means removing less
 important information. The ideal solution would be:

 1. Rephrase the release notes and keep all informations.
 2. If that's not possible, remove less important informations to stay
 under the limit. And I agree, it could be hard to ask to a translator who
 doesn't know about the app. Most of the time unimportant things are
 obvious to identify.

 For some UI components (e.g. a title in a menu) we could need a limited
 chars string, and in that case we need the translator to find an
 alternative or use an abbreviation.
