 I think it is useful for anyone using GlotPress to manage WordPress
 translations (plugins, themes, etc.).  The locale's "slug" is not the same
 as the "wp_locale".  The former is what GlotPress uses to distinguish
 languages.  The later is what {{{WPLANG}}} needs to be set to for that
 community.

 That's my understanding, at least.
