 RSS in BuddyPress is very different than the content that Google/Mass
 media provide. BuddyPress is not providing curated news content, it's
 providing more ways to consume content from self-hosted BP powered
 communities.

 There's probably not a lot of performance gains to be had because these
 aren't exactly performance heavy, so I am not sure what exactly there is
 to gain by removing.
