 Ha, I was in the middle of cleaning @hnla's patch when I got an email
 about @r-a-y's patch.

 I was going to suggest that we handle the change in syntax in a new
 ticket, but since the patch is written, I think it's cool to go with it. I
 agree that the logic and the syntax is much clearer.

 @r-a-y Did you write tests to test the backward compatibility stuff? Or
 did you just check to see if existing buttons were rendering properly?
