 No I know, it's not really intended as a 'placeholder' but like the
 fieldset to group options for clarity, I'm afraid it's just a habit that's
 sprung up to use an option element as placeholder text when really selects
 are/were never intended to have or need that -but this aspect is a
 digression and I mustn't derail things harping on about it :)
