 Good question. I spoke about this in person with hnla a few weeks ago, and
 we thought if someone had set this option -- and it didn't appear to work
 -- they would then hopefully figure out they needed to change the
 template's actual filename to get BP to use it.

 Then if we add this patch so we use the page template selection, we're
 using *that* instead of the renamed page template. If someone's forgotten
 that they ever picked an option from the dropdown, 2.2 would appear to
 "break" their site.

 If consensus is that we think this is unlikely, it's trivial to change the
 patch, of course, but the idea made sense when Hugo and I spoke.
