 Hi boonebgorges, following on from
 [http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5230/ 5230], could this
 ticket be resolved with the proposed notifications component outlined in
 ticket [http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5148/ 5148]?

 Perhaps a notifications table could be introduced with fields such as

 {{{ id | notified_user_id | notifer_user_id | notification_text | status
 }}}

 where

 * {{{ notification_text }}} could be a simple string like "Member X
 mentioned you in a comment"
 * {{{ status }}} could be a boolean value to signify read or unread
 notifications.

 I think this approach would be along the lines of your first and second
 suggestion above. I don't see a need to store the full text (suggestion
 3). This I think would (as you will be aware) bloat the activity table
 unnecessarily with lots of redundant data.
