 @sooskriszta Karmatosed, hnla, and crew have already made this theme; it's
 called Status, and you can grab the current dev version from
 https://github.com/karmatosed/Status/. It's not going to be bundled with
 BuddyPress 1.6 release, it will be distributed via
 http://WordPress.org/extend/themes/. We can probably close this ticket
 once the theme is released.

 The Theme Compatibility layer is going to take a couple of months to
 implement and get into a future BuddyPress release. :)
