Comment:

 This is an enhancement request, not a bug. It is also very closely tied
 together into the theme. We don't want to change BP-Default to work like,
 because of concerns with backwards compatibility and style changes; it'd
 be a pretty significant difference. It could be implemented into a custom
 theme.

 We are planning major changes to how BuddyPress themes are done in the
 next 1.7 version of BuddyPress. If we decide to build a new theme for 1.7,
 we will keep this in mind (it is possible that BuddyPress may not ship
 with a bundled theme).
