 Dennis looking at the functions file patch it looks as though you have
 moved the edit link into the elseif comments_open() block. The edit link
 should appear regardless or at least should appear regardless of whether
 comments are open or closed as it edits the existing comment.

 I may be reading things wrong though as I'm viewing three different
 versions at the moment.
